Defense Work Coming to Maryland
Mr. Foster will speak about Base Realignment associated with Defense Information Systems Agency at Ft. Meade, and the types of technology expected to be associated with that defense work coming to Maryland. He will also discuss how Carroll County companies can position themselves to take advantage of it.
Mr. Foster is the Deputy Secretary of the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED) and the State Chief Technology Officer for the State of Maryland. As the Deputy Secretary, Mr. Foster is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the State's "Commerce" Department, with a budget in excess of $100 million, as well as the State's Early Seed Stage Venture Fund, and the economic strategy and business development efforts of the state. Mr. Foster most recently served as president and chief executive officer of Professional Development Solutions, a healthcare benefits software development company that developed Web-based healthcare benefits administration software targeted toward insurance brokerage companies.
Accomplishments
Christopher C. Foster has been president of a healthcare software firm, a chief technology officer, an aviation logistics manager for a U.S. Marines Corps multi-billion dollar aircraft procurement program, and Associate Chairman of the Electrical Engineering Department at the U.S. Naval Academy. Mr. Foster was selected for Maryland's prestigious BETA award for his dedication and leadership as the State's leading Technology Advocate and was nominated by Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr. for the President's National Medal of Technology in 2004.
