CyberWATCH, a consortium of schools that teach and certify information security professionals, was presented by Dale Schnepf. See www.cyberwatchcenter.org for detailed information about the consortium.

Ron reminded everyone that the members-only group meets regularly on the 2nd and 4th Friday mornings at 8 am in Eldersburg at Martins. Contact Scott Adelman or Ron Harrington for more information.

Bob Dorr reported that the next CompuKids Donation Day is November at 10 am. Bob thanked Quantum Internet Services for providing internet connections for CompuKids families. Please contact Bobby Keller or Tracy to arrange to help.

Denise announced that the Carroll County Dept. of Economic Development would not be able to fund CTC Professional Development classes for fall 2009 due to budget constraints. Denise encouraged members to take advantage of the free scheduled training through the Small Business Development Center and the Small Business Training Network at the Carroll Community College. Economic Development funds free training and business counseling through these organizations.

Carroll County Times articles - Tracy encouraged members to write articles. Articles should be 450-500 words and be on a topic of general interest to the public.
CTC web survey with Zoomerang will be sent out to other members. All members are encouraged to submit a completed survey.

Past President Ron Harrington is the committee chair. Committee members include Bob Dorr and Bob Cage. Two executive committee positions - Vice President and Secretary will be up for election. Four board seats are also up for election. Anyone interested in running for election should notify Ron as soon as possible. Nominations are due by end of October member meeting and the elections are held at the annual Tech Council meeting in November. Nominees to date include: VP - Isabel DeFeo; Secretary - Denise Beaver; Board members nominated to date - Scot Adelman, Dave Buie, Kevin Brown, Bill Eyler, Bill Murphy, Dave Shaffer, Judy Stem, and Jerry Tabeling.

Technically Speaking information and sponsorship packages are now available on the CTC website. A Pay Pal option is included for dinner tickets and sponsor packages. A photo gallery has been created. Isabel asked members to send technology and company news and events to her to be posted along with photographs.

Chair Bob Dorr said the committee has confirmed Congressman Roscoe Bartlett as the guest speaker. The event will be Saturday, November 14th at the Best Western Conference Center. Members are asked to attend and help promote dinner ticket sales and sponsorships. Nominations for Techie of the Year and Tech Company of the Year are being solicited.
- Member Announcements
- The CTC team placed 5th out of a total of 15 teams in the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce Corporate challenge. The team consisted of Tom Canon, Phil Cornblatt, Denise Beaver and Shane Stem.
- A meeting will be held with the Community Media Center in the near future to discuss plans for a 2010 Carroll County Tech Expo.
- Dave Shaffer of Tier One Technology Partners announced an opening for an entry level position - someone who has desktop operating system knowledge. Tier One has offices in Frederick and Hunt Valley and serves the Baltimore/Washington region.
- Bob Dorr volunteers with the Robo-Lions and he said that it takes a minimum of $10,000 year to fund a team. Dave Franc and the 4-H Technology Club is hosting a VEX competition on October 31st at Shipley Arena and a large Mid-Atlantic VEX competition on February 26th and 27th in 2010. The groups are looking for volunteers, donations and sponsors for both events.
- Denise announced the South Carroll E-Cycling event to be held Sat. Oct 10th 10-1 pm at Carrolltowne Center.
Next Meeting
The next meeting is October 29 at 6:30 pm featuring the Robo-Lions team and then again on November 12th when CTC elections will be conducted.
