Tom and Tracy welcomed everyone. Attendees introduced themselves.
- Program

The U.S. Dept. of Army eCYBERMISSION program, a free web-based science, math and technology competition for students in grades 6 – 9, was presented. Four mission challenges are offered. Students register online at eCYBERMISSION.com with a registration deadline of Dec. 18th. The roles for business and community representatives are: Team Advisor, Ambassador, Cyber Guide, and Virtual Judge. Some roles require special security clearances and background checks.
In 2008 a total of 12,730 students (169 in Maryland) entered the competition. eCYBERMISSION is now marketing through WEB 2.0 via a Blog, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and FlicKr accounts. Any person interested in participating should contact Robin or Micah.
Carroll County Times Articles
Tracy encouraged members to write articles. Articles should be 450-500 words and be on a topic of general interest to the public.

Tracy indicated that all committees are open for new members.

Ron welcomed the guests and Tracy recapped the picnic noting that there were 50 attendees and everyone had a good time.
- Business Roundtable

Ron reminded everyone that the members-only group meets regularly on the 2nd and 4th Friday mornings at 8 am in Eldersburg at Martins. Contact Scott Adelman or Ron Harrington for more information.
- CompuKids

Bob Dorr reported that the next CompuKids Work Day is September 12th at 9:00AM and the next Donation Day is September 26th at 10 am. Contact Bobby Keller or Tracy to arrange to help.
Edy’s Ice Cream recognized Westminster last Saturday by throwing a community party because of a nomination by a family that received a CompuKids computer and received other community support. Several CTC members attended.

Achievement Counts Speakers Bureau training will be held on Sept. 8th at Carroll County Dept. of Economic Development for volunteers to speak to 9th grade students about career and education goals. Register online at www.mbrt.org/speak.
A Business & Education Get Together will be held on Sept. 16th at 8:30 am at the Carroll County Dept. of Economic Development to introduce business people to career coordinators at the local high schools and colleges for internships. Register to attend by calling Bonnie at 410-386-2070.

The committee put together a member survey that was distributed. All members are encouraged to submit a completed survey.
- Nominating Committee

Past President Ron Harrington is the committee chair. Two executive committee positions – Vice President and Secretary will be up for election. Four board seats are also up for election. Anyone interested in running for election should notify Ron as soon as possible. Nominations are due by end of October member meeting and the elections are held at the annual Tech Council meeting in November.

Isabel asked members to send technology and company news and events to her to be posted. Since CTC is celebrating its 5th year anniversary, a new photo gallery section will be launched.
- Westminster FallFest

CTC is recruiting volunteers from Thursday through Saturday (2-3 hour shifts) to man a “Big Six Wheel” fundraiser event during FallFest on 9/24 from 6pm - 10pm; 9/25 from 6pm - 10pm and 9/26 from 10am - 10pm.

- Technically Speaking Dinner

Chair Bob Dorr said the committee has invited Congressman Roscoe Bartlett as the guest speaker. The event will be Saturday, November 14th at the Best Western Conference Center. Nominations for Techie of the Year and Tech Company of the Year are being solicited.

Tom shared Westminster FallFest news and encouraged businesses to participate. See www.westminsterfallfest.com for all of the details.
Matt Day shared that Carroll Community College will be participating in the eCYBERMISSION program this year. Students must all be in the same grade. Please contact Matt to provide names and volunteer interest.
