Tom and Tracy welcomed everyone. Attendees introduced themselves.
- Program

Carroll Architect Dean Camlin talked about Technology in the Architectural design Process. With 31 years in the industry, Dean provided an industry overview and shared examples of current projects. Modeling using AutoCAD which is now called Building Information Modeling - has allowed professionals to work out design problems much more quickly. Architects now use object-based design programs; a common one is called Revit Architecture.
Committee Reports
Tracy indicated that all committees are open for new members.
- Ambassador
- Mike Shelah welcomed and re-introduced guests Ted McNett, Diane Ryan, and Bob Martin and new member Linda Cook. Mike is starting to plan Summer Picnic and welcomes others to join the committee.
- Business Roundtable
- Ron briefed the group on the roundtable, which is a members-only group that meets regularly on the 2nd and 4th Friday mornings at 8 am at the Nonprofit Center. The group brainstorms about business challenges and shares business leads and opportunities. Contact Jerry or Scott for more information.
- CompuKids
- Bobby Keller shared that 30+ volunteers helped on the Feb. 7th CompuKids work day and they prepared 70 machines. Bobby thanked all of the volunteers.
Next Donation Day is Feb.28th at 10 am. CCPL stopped dial-up internet service so that won't be offered to families. It was suggested to contact CTC member QIS to see if they could offer something to families. Bobby said we always need modems and speaker donations. Contact Bobby or Tracy to arrange to help. - Education
- Current class offering of Business Applications of Quick Books Pro is finishing tonight (12 members attended).
A planning meeting to discuss future class offerings with CCC is scheduled for Feb 24th.
Denise shared information about an offer from Dave Anderson, Siemon Regional Sales Manager - Building a 20 year Data Center - the Green Way, to be held February 26 in Baltimore. Contact Dave at 301.821.6790 by 2/20 to attend. - Technology Advisory Committee
- Chairman Douglas Heck announced that the next TAC meeting is Tuesday, March 17th at InfoPathways. Future seminar ideas include social networking, access control methods, etc.
- Golf
- Save the Date - May 14, 2009 8:00 Registration; 8:30 am start at The Links at Challedon in Mt. Airy. Sponsors and golfers are needed.
- Marketing
- New committee Chair, Rich Waganer said the primary goal is to maintain a consistent style, message and look. Every member is encouraged to be an ambassador. The committee will develop boiler plate flyers; a new slogan and will interface with all of the committees.
- Website
- Fran is working on putting event photos on website and archiving old information. Please send technology and company news and events to Fran to be posted. And don't forget to advertise your business and services on LOCATE.
- Events
- Judy gave an overview of the upcoming events and asked that any members who had event ideas to please contact her.
- Masquerade Ball
- Mardi Gras-style Masquerade Ball that was held on January 31, 2009 at Martins was successful with many attendees wearing costumes. Fran Hanyok won the prize for "Prettiest", Joe Luksic as "The Blue Screen of Death" and David and Susan Shaffer won the "Best Couple" prize. The event provided community exposure for CTC. Tom thanked Kelly Heck Photography and sponsors. The April/May issue of Carroll Magazine will feature some event photos.
- Carroll County Times Articles
- Tracy encouraged members who wanted to write articles to contact her. Future articles will also be solicited from speakers; articles should be 450-500 words and be on a topic of general interest to the public.
Member Announcements
Rich and Waganer Digital Video now offer interactive live web seminars. CTC members are offered a free short promotional video. The plan is to schedule two days a month and block 1 hour to produce each video.
Matt Day announced a Carroll Community College summer Technology program for high school students. CCC is looking for partners to provide money, class room presentations, company tours and job shadow experiences. The goal is for students to meet 10-15 CTC members. Contact Matt Day to get involved.
Linda Cook announced a free PMI meeting on Feb 24th in Columbia. Contact Linda for more information at 410-374-6752.
Bob Dorr announced the 2009 FIRST Robotics competition in March. An Open House for the Liberty Lions team is tomorrow with a NASA Astronaut attending the event.
Tom announced the Westminster FallFest Gala on Saturday April 4th. See www.westminsterfallfest.com.

Member meeting on March 12, 2009 featuring an "Economic Development Update" by Carroll County Department of Economic Development Director Larry Twele.
