Introductions
Lynn Karr opened the meeting with member introductions.
Open Board Positions
Ron Harrington clarified the Board of Director's nomination process. Currently five open board positions are available. Member names were submitted to the nominating committee and reviewed by board. Criteria for approved nomination include active participation with in the Tech Council and regular attendance at meetings. Members will vote by ballot at the November member meeting.

Josh Kohn, the chairman of the nominating committee, presented the following candidates for nomination to the board of directors:

Technically Speaking Dinner
Judy Stem reminded members of the Tech Council's dinner event on November 18th, 6pm at the Best Western, Westminster. Lynn announced the need for PSA video submissions and urged members to advertise the contest to anyone who may be interested.

- Next meeting date is October 18th at 8:30
- CompuKids
- Currently, 64 family applicants and 6 non-profits are waiting for PCs. In an effort to seek alternative means of meeting the demand, a CompuKids brainstorming session will be held on Monday, October 16th, 3:30pm at the non-profit center. Immediately following the meeting at 5pm, 9 families will receive their PCs, with the CC Times present.
- LAN Gaming Event
- Join us at Carroll Community College on October 28th from 10am to 10pm for gaming fun! If your company can provide give always for the event, please send them to Lynn Karr.

- Currently Isabel is working with Steve Williams and Doug Heck to revamp the existing Tech Council website.
- Community Involvement
- Tom Cannon is serving on the Westminster City Advisory Board and assisting with the CMC Municipal Programs on Channel 23. David Anderson is developing a new partnership by serving on the ITT Technical Advisory Board.

Volunteer Organizational Leader, 4H SPARKS Technology Club

Topic: Goals and Objectives of the SPARKS 4-H club
- The 4-H has had to adjust to the changing times, and is now integrating topics such as technology, leadership and interview skills into their program.
- THE SPARKS 4-H club is rapidly growing and has reached 30 members in just 5 months.
- David is seeking to form a FIRST VEX robotics challenge team and develop competitions. Aside from technology exposure, youth are also developing gracious professionalism, doing high quality work in a manner that leaves everyone feeling valued.
- The 4-H club can support the Tech Council in various ways:
- Students will assist with CompuKids work days
- Help set up the LAN gaming event
- Promote the Council through 4-H events
- The following resources are need by the SPARKS club:
- Laptops (need not be new, just reliable)
- LEGO Mindstorm kits ($250 each)
- VEX competition ring ($1,300)
- Sponsor recognition on banners at competitions
- Ring could be used county-wide
Technology Council members can also provide support by sponsoring activity materials, speaking to the group or being a judge at a fair.

Starts 7 PM, doors open at 5:45 PM, early bird game at 6:45 PM. 3 cards for 20 games- $10 advance tickets, $12.00 at the door. Food, drinks, raffles and specials.
