- 255 Clifton Blvd, Suite 215
Westminster, MD 21158 - Ron Harrington
- Ron Harrington reminded members about the Council's growing need for fundraising; two events are quickly approaching: the upcoming golf tournament and the annual event.
- Ron also presented the first Tech Council budget to the members. Projected expenses for 2006 are $42,000. Ron noted a $7,494.00 shortfall, reaffirming our greater need for fundraising efforts.
- CTC Assistance to Non-Profits
- Ron Harrington stated that assisting with the Non-Profits in the new building "Fits our Mission" as the Tech Council.
- Thom Bethune and Doug Heck, from Infopathways, presented their report on the Non Profit Center survey and verified the suitability of the new Non-Profit building infrastructure. Twenty tenants will share the building, presenting a unique opportunity to share technology resources, such as internet connectivity and equipment. It was noted that Catholic Charities and Head Start will not participate in Resource sharing, but the majority of the tenants are interested. An example of estimated savings $17,424 for the first year if 20 tenants participate.
- Initial Technology Needs:
- Shared internet access
- Set up Assistance on Feb 1st from 8 am-12pm
- Equipment donations needed: NICs, switches, Hubs, Cables
- Long Term Needs:
- Education
- Training
- Technical Support
- On-going Service
- Thom and Doug urged the members of the Tech Council to help with the growing needs. Tom stated that assisting with the project "Establishes CTC technical authority and it's an opportunity for a broad band base of willing member involvement." Doug stated that "By sharing resources to reduce costs of running Non-Profits, enables them to do more for the community."
- The non-profit center is a high-profile opportunity, as it is the first of its kind. Future projects will be modeled after this building.
- Ron noted that the Tech Council is donating the router to the Non-profit building.
- Golf Event
- Lynn presented the Sponsorship Golf brochure to the members. Ron Harrington emphasized that this sponsorship is a crucial piece of our fundraiser event, as sponsorships are the main source of income for our event. The mission right now is to get the word out and contribute.
- Maryland Homeland Security
- Lynn announced that Catherine McDonald of A&O Computer Consultants wishes to create an association with Maryland Homeland Security. Such a relationship would give us contacts at the government level. Katherine would like the Tech council to assist Maryland Homeland Security as emergencies arrive. A conference call is scheduled for next Tuesday, January 17th; Tech Council members are invited to participate.
