- Ron Harrington
- Ron Harrington acknowledged the achievements of the former Carroll Tech Council Board and Executive Team. He urged the council to build upon that success and examine ways to continue our growth and attract new members.
- Lynn and Ron shared their experiences from the Greater Baltimore Tech Night. One of the outcomes of the evening was the acquisition of Chris Foster, as a speaker for an upcoming meeting, possibly next February!
- Lynn and Ron are visiting the nearly completed Non-profit building next week. It is estimated that Tech Council will be able to move into the building mid-December.
Speaker – Tim Blizzard
Tim shared his success working with High School Juniors and Seniors in the challenging field of Machine Shop. Students work with Tim at the Career and Tech Center from January through January and then work full time in the summer to earn high school credits. Students enrolled in the Career and Tech Center are ideal candidates for local employers, as they are monitored by a career counselor and must uphold 96% attendance rate. Currently, these students work with employers such as Ridge Engineering and Western Industrial. Tim expressed his desire for the Tech Council to provide more partnering opportunities. Many of Tim's students continue in the Machine shop workforce, while others pursue an engineering degree.
Ron Harrington presented Tim with a $500 contribution from the Technology Council, to go toward the Robotics F.I.R.S.T. Team
If your business is interested in partnering with the Career and Technology center, call Tim Blizzard at 410-751-3669 or Mike Gray, Coordinator of Technology for Carroll Public Schools at 410-751-3049.
